Ice, Ice, Baby

Ice 2

For the last few days we have been having ice. Sunday the temperature was in the 60's and it was rainy. Late in the evening the temperature dropped tremendously. By morning there was a coat of ice on everything. It rained off and on all day Monday, and the temperature remained below freezing. By Tuesday morning there was 3/8 inch of ice on the car. I had to run the car for 25 minutes before the ice on the windshield loosened enough for me to be able to scrape a hole to see out of.

I never had my camera with me, so I was never able to get any pictures. It was dreary and rainy, so I don't know if I could have gotten any good pictures. Last night late I went out on my back porch and took these shots. I hope no one was planning on sitting in this chair.

Today it warmed up into the mid thirties and started melting some, but there is still plenty of ice around. I will be glad when it is gone. Ice, ice, baby too cold ice, ice, baby.

    There's nothing worse than ice when it comes to driving, but it can be pretty. Stay safe!

    Ops,the water is frosen,and here it has been raining too,and the roads are like mirrors,very dangerous both to drive and to walk on.

    We're expecting some ice this evening with snow into tomorrow. I hope your trees are getting through the ice storms ok. We lost many last January. Be careful out there!

    Those icicles are so cool! I remember when I was younger and they would always be hanging off our house. Be careful in all that ice!

    Good photos, Richard. We didn't get much ice here in central Arkansas, just ice pellets (bigger than sleet) so it didn't coat the trees and power lines (Thank you, Lord). Roads were very slick, and some were closed on Tuesday morning. Light rain this morning, but temps above freezing.
    Be safe if you have to get outside in that stuff.

    Boy we really don't know what real cold is here in Tasmania. I got an email from a friend visiting Canada the other day & he said it was minus 25 Celcius. I couldn't imagine being that cold. Keep warm over there in your art of the world

    Wow...what a bunch of icicles! Great shots. We've been too warm for much ice although we did have some sleety rain last week a couple of days...very brief.

I Is For Itsy Bitsy Spider

It's time again for ABC Wednesday . If you aren't participating in ABC Wednesday , you are missing out on a lot of fun. This week the letter is I. I is for Itsy Bitsy Spider. The nursery rhyme Itsy Bitsy Spider was first published in 1910. The origin of this nursery rhyme isn't documented. The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout Down came the rain, and washed the spider out Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain So the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. Jim Carrey appeared in an animated short titled Itsy Bitsy Spider that was released in 1992. The Itsy Bitsy Spider was eventually made into an animated series, which aired on the USA Network. The best rendition of Itsy Bitsy Spider I have seen is this wacky 15 second version. My second favorite version is the Carly Simon version from her Coming Around Again album. Cathy's Corner

My An Arkie's Faith column from the May 29, 2024, issue of The Polk County Pulse. At 8:30 on Sunday morning, several family members left our hotel in Siloam Springs and headed to Cathy’s Corner for breakfast. My family was in town for my granddaughter's graduation. Several of us ended up staying at the same hotel. After a night full of anxiety from storms that produced tornadoes close by, we wanted to go out for breakfast before heading our separate ways. Cathy’s Corner is a Siloam Springs landmark. We have been eating at Cathy’s for over 30 years. It is the place to be in Siloam Springs on a Sunday morning.
