A little house on Benton Street
Filled with happy sounds where
A young girl plays in the yard
Sunlight in her blond hair
Tangled like the wind
Drifting through the trees
Sweet reflections of the past
Flow like a summer breeze

She's a Colorado girl
Loves aspens in the starlight
And sweet Palisade peaches
She's a Colorado girl
Loves snowy peaks
Frosted white
Violet blue columbines
And mountain sunset twilight
She's a Colorado Girl

Mama's pot roast on the stove
Sweet aroma in the air
Family gathered around
Love was always there
Grace before the meal
Then laughter filled the room
Simple days have gone too fast
Like a sweet and gentle tune

She's a Colorado girl
Loves aspens in the starlight
And sweet Palisade peaches
She's a Colorado girl
Loves snowy peaks
Frosted white
Violet blue columbines
And mountain sunset twilight
She's a Colorado Girl

Camping in the Rockies
Under stars that burn so bright
Campfire songs and stories
Carried far into the night
She learned the world was bigger
Than the streets she used to roam
But every mountain road
Led to her Colorado home

She's a Colorado girl

I Is For Itsy Bitsy Spider

It's time again for ABC Wednesday . If you aren't participating in ABC Wednesday , you are missing out on a lot of fun. This week the letter is I. I is for Itsy Bitsy Spider. The nursery rhyme Itsy Bitsy Spider was first published in 1910. The origin of this nursery rhyme isn't documented. The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout Down came the rain, and washed the spider out Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain So the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. Jim Carrey appeared in an animated short titled Itsy Bitsy Spider that was released in 1992. The Itsy Bitsy Spider was eventually made into an animated series, which aired on the USA Network. The best rendition of Itsy Bitsy Spider I have seen is this wacky 15 second version. My second favorite version is the Carly Simon version from her Coming Around Again album. My An Arkie's Faith column from the May 29, 2024, issue of The Polk County Pulse. At 8:30 on Sunday morning, several family members left our hotel in Siloam Springs and headed to Cathy’s Corner for breakfast. My family was in town for my granddaughter's graduation. Several of us ended up staying at the same hotel. After a night full of anxiety from storms that produced tornadoes close by, we wanted to go out for breakfast before heading our separate ways. Cathy’s Corner is a Siloam Springs landmark. We have been eating at Cathy’s for over 30 years. It is the place to be in Siloam Springs on a Sunday morning. I pulled into the crowded parking lot, searching for an open space. A space near the front door opened as a truck pulled out of the lot. Inside, the restaurant was a beehive of activity. It looked a bit like an Arkansas farmhouse. There were setting hens on the wallpaper and signs that said such things as “Good food,” “Fresh eggs,” and “Friends are always welcome here.” The...
